Last December, I had a wonderful time shooting an amazing family photo session in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia for two friends of mine, Rowena and Murray, as well as their beautiful daughter, Esme.
Dartmouth Family Photos with Chantal Routhier Photography
Rowena, Murray and Esme were here in Dartmouth visiting family for Christmas. They currently live in Australia, where Murray is from. They were so excited to be here together for the holidays and for Esme to see her very first snowfall!
It was so wonderful to be able to meet up with this family for their winter family portrait session. You see, in 2016, I was fortunate enough to be the wedding photographer for Rowena and Murray’s stunning seaside wedding in Halifax at the Boscawen Inn. It was magical! Rowena and Murray just radiate warmth and kindness, so I was incredibly happy to hear from them again asking if I could do a family photo session for them this year!
We took some wonderful shots, both inside and out. Everyone was having such a wonderful time, playing in the snow and just all around having a blast! I really love the shots I got with Esme on her father’s shoulders. This family is just so playful together and I was so happy to be there to capture every moment! Snowfall is magical, something you forget when you are accustomed to Canadian winters! It was such a delight to watch this Australian family get to play in the snow together.
It was great to hear from Rowena and Murray again. I was overjoyed to see that they had been living their best life out in Australia. I hope they come back to visit again soon. Rowena and Murray, thank you for letting me be a part of your lives again for a day.
Nova Scotia Family Photo Sessions | Chantal Routhier Photography
I love family photo shoots! This session was great because I’d already had a working relationship with Rowena and Murray from their wedding day. It was awesome to see where they were in their lives after a few years had gone by.
It’s never too late for a family photography session. Or even a couple’s photo session for that matter. I really enjoy capturing those candid shots that happen when the whole family is just out in the environment having a good time. Those are the shots I live for!
If you’ve been putting off getting those family photos done, maybe now is the time. Winter is almost gone, and spring is inching closer. Now is the perfect time to get you and your loved ones together to celebrate what being a family is all about — just let me grab my camera so I can capture it on film!
If you’re interested in getting some family photos done, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Let’s talk about setting up a special day to capture the memories of you and your loved ones!
